In Identity Systems II, my assignment was to redesign an artist's album cover, merchandise, social media platforms, and tour website without incorporating any images. I chose to revamp Angel Olsen's third album, "My Woman." Starting the process, I drew inspiration from maple tree seeds, particularly their shape. My sketches involved leaves, branches, and a heart holding the pods together.
I translated my sketches into an illustration using Adobe Illustrator, transforming it into a symbol. I then enlarged this symbol, creating a pattern featured on the vinyl cover's circle and the homepage of the website. Exploring further, I experimented with metal materials, removing excess branches to enhance the visual impact and refine the overall appearance.
I intricately intertwined words through the metal to generate a cohesive design for shirts and hoodies. Expanding on the initial drawing, I introduced additional heart elements through sketches. Utilizing Figma, I crafted the tour website and incorporated the merch designs I created.
To elevate the website's interactivity, I employed After Effects to manipulate the symbol dynamically within the pattern, creating a visually engaging experience for visitors.
Finally, I created social media grid posts and an album page for Spotify, ensuring that this identity was communicated effectively across different platforms.
